The head of the defense team of Iraq's Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi said the VP’s trial has been postponed to an unspecified date after the request from the defense team to bring in a list of witnesses.
Muayad al-Izi said in press conference in Baghdad: "The Iraqi High Criminal Court decided to postpone Hashemi's trial due to the appeal by a defense lawyer by asking to bring in the list of witnesses."

The postponement is pending until the Federal Court of Cassation answers on whether or not to accept the request.

Three charges are attributed to al-Hashemi - the alleged assassination of the general manager in the department of homeland security, an officer in the Ministry of Interior and a female lawyer.
