Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi expressed his desire to visit Iraq as soon as possible.
This came during a meeting with the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari on Monday, in the Egyptian capital Cairo on the sidelines of the Syrian opposition conference.

Minister Zebari expressed Iraq's ambitions to develop bilateral ties between the two countries to serve the higher interests of both the Iraqi and the Egyptian peoples .

Zebari , conveyed congratulations from His Excellency President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister and the Iraqi government and people to the Egyptian President on the occasion of his election.
