on June18, 2012 the Kurdistan Parliament President, Dr. Arslan Baiz, received a delegation from UNOPS, headed by Adam Stipe Rkovski, the UNOPS Coordinator and Anna Mansour, Hoshyar Malo from the office of the organization in Erbil. Dana Sa’id Sofi, head of the civic organizations Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament was in attendance.

They discussed ways of strengthening relations between Kurdistan Parliament and the international organizations, particularly with regard to the formulation and study of bills and resolutions relating to organizations through a series of workshops and seminars to find out the views and demands of civil society organizations in Kurdistan in order to enrich their laws.
The Parliament President stated that the Parliament is working hard to facilitate the work of civil society organizations and to strengthen their career, especially its contribution to the drafting of resolutions and laws passed by Parliament regarding the organization of the activities of those organizations.

The delegation pointed to the importance of a healthy relationship between the Kurdistan Parliament and the Government with civil society organizations, as well as activating their role in the awareness of the people politically, legally, and the role of individuals in making Kurdistan Region more progress.
