Three EU foreign ministers on joint visit to Lebanon, Iraq
The three foreign ministers will hold talks on the situation in the region, with an emphasis on the situation in Syria, as well as opportunities for co-operation between Lebanon and Iraq, respectively, and the European Union, the ministry said.
They would convey a message from EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, in support of the security, territorial integrity and national unity of Lebanon, the statement said.
In Beirut and in Baghdad, they will hold meetings with presidents Michel Suleiman and Jalal Talabani, respectively, and with the leaders of parliaments and senior representatives of the governments.
In Lebanon, the foreign ministers will hold talks with representatives of United Nations organisations working in the region.
In the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Mladenov, Bildt and Sikorski would meet Massoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Federal Region and President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the statement said.
