Kurdish Film on Peshmerga Wins al-Nahj Film Festival
ERBIL — Kurdish film “Facing Death with Wirecutter” has won the first place at the 2019 Al-Nahj International Film Festival.

The film highlights the bravery of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces who face death with a wirecutter to defuse the Islamic State (IS) bombs.

Director of the film, Sarwar Abdullah, from Duhok, dedicated the award to the fallen Peshmerga forces and those who risked their lives to save Kurdistan.

The festival, known as the largest of its kind in Iraq, focuses on short films (fiction, documentary, animation). It is organized by the Karbala Satellite TV Group.

The festival was founded in 2014 and was launched on 25/3/2015.
