American Team Teaches Yezidi Women Martial Arts in Duhok
The main goal of the team, who are volunteering the activity, is to return confidence and emotional stability to the minority group's women, especially those who were freed from Islamic State (IS) captivity, according to Salim Saeed, a spokesperson for Duhok Province Human Affairs Board.
The official noted that a total of 450 Kurdish women, during the volunteering course, will also learn some self-defense techniques.
The Islamic State overran the Yezidi populated region of Sinjar in 2014, and the extremist group kidnapped thousands of civilians, half of whom are yet to be rescued.
