Kurdish film puts spotlight on struggle
Based on true events, the film "Come to My Voice" tells the story of a Kurdish mountain village that is torn apart when the Turkish military falsely accuses local men of hiding weapons. This event triggers a long journey to find a gun to buy back a family's father.

This Kurdish parable, now turned into a film, was presented at a New York film festival that aims to "explore extraordinary lives of ordinary people."

The festival’s founder hopes the films will allow American audiences to make connections with foreign cultures.

A Kurdish volunteer at the festival said the film does a good job of portraying the struggle of Kurds in Turkey and across the region.
