Amarillo may not be considered a film hub, but a local filmmaker is trying to shine new light on a war-torn region of Northern Iraq with his latest project, "No Friends but the Mountains: The Untold Story of the Gulf Wars"

Kurdistan is a region in Northern Iraq where Roger Lindley shot most of his documentary.

He has been working on this film since March of 2013 and says this story is one that every American needs to hear.

"They are a model of what can happen in the middle east. Out of tragedy and the bitterness of the failures of the Iraq war, I think they are the bright spot in Iraqi, Kurdistan.

Right now Lindley has goal of finishing the documentary by spring.
