President Nechirvan Barzani met today with Dr. Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives.

During their discussion, they addressed the current political landscape in Iraq, the relations between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the importance of passing the amendments to the Iraqi budget law which was needed to address the financial disputes between Baghdad and Erbil. They also touched upon legislation concerning the restitution of land confiscated during the Ba’ath regime.

President Nechirvan Barzani commended Dr. Mashhadani for his efforts in facilitating the amendment to the law that targets the financial difficulties encountered by both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole. He underscored the necessity of continued cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad to ensure the financial and economic stability of the country.

The President acknowledged Dr. Mahmoud al-Mashhadani as a distinguished political figure in Iraq, whose vast experience has equipped him with a deep insight into the country's challenges and has bolstered his ability to devise effective solutions.

Both sides also highlighted the importance of fostering dialogue and enhancing mutual understanding among various political factions.
