Kurdistan PM Masrour Barzani Meets King of Bahrain to Boost Bilateral Ties
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain at the Safriya Palace in Manama on Tuesday to discuss strategies for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Bahrain.
During the meeting, King Hamad praised the Kurdistan Region’s progress, prosperity, peace, and coexistence, which he attributed to the wise leadership of Masoud Barzani. He affirmed Bahrain’s readiness to support the Kurdistan Region in various areas, signaling a willingness to enhance cooperation.
Prime Minister Barzani expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s support and its ongoing cooperation with the Kurdistan Region. The two leaders emphasized the need to deepen relations and agreed on several key initiatives, including the establishment of a Bahraini consulate in the Kurdistan Region and the resumption of direct flights between Manama and Erbil.
In addition to bilateral ties, the two sides discussed regional developments, including the ongoing situation in Syria and broader issues in the Middle East.
The meeting was attended by Bahrain’s National Security Advisor, Prince Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, along with several Bahraini ministers and senior officials.
This engagement reflects a growing interest in fostering closer economic, political, and diplomatic ties between Bahrain and the Kurdistan Region, with both sides signaling a commitment to future collaboration.
