KRG’s 119 Hotline: A Lifeline for Families Facing Violence and Challenges in Kurdistan

The 119 hotline in the Kurdistan Region offers a free, round-the-clock support service dedicated to providing immediate assistance to individuals facing violence or family-related challenges.

The service operates under the Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Families in the Kurdistan Region, comprising 8 directorates, 28 district-level offices, and 3 subdistrict-level departments.

The directorate is staffed by skilled professionals specialising in legal, social, and psychological fields, committed to responding effectively to citizens' calls.

Family members and individuals of any race, ethnicity, or language who are experiencing violence, threats, or other challenges can call the hotline for guidance, assistance, or access to social, psychological, and legal counselling.

Established in late 2018 by the KRG, this hotline aims to prevent family breakdown, promote social reconciliation, and offer a range of services to citizens across the Kurdistan Region. Since its launch, it has successfully addressed numerous issues affecting women and families.
