Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Opens Nine New Schools and Kindergartens in Erbil
Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, inaugurated nine new government schools and kindergartens today, signaling a major step forward in the development of the education sector. Among the new facilities is Ahmed Rekani High School, which the Prime Minister toured during his inspection visit.
Speaking after the opening ceremony at Ahmed Rekani High School, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing the education system. He noted that this initiative is part of a broader program to build new schools and renovate existing ones, ensuring educational facilities meet the needs of students across the region.
“This school is just one example of a series of completed projects,” Barzani stated, pointing to collaborations between the government and the private sector to deliver high-quality educational infrastructure.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation for the dedication of teachers in the Kurdistan Region, praising their resilience and commitment to continuing the education process under challenging circumstances. “Their efforts ensure that students are never deprived of their right to learn,” he said.
Barzani further expressed optimism about the future, stating that the successful legislative elections in the Kurdistan Region should lead to the formation of a strong new government focused on delivering essential services. He emphasized the importance of sustaining progress in the education sector as a key priority.
The nine new educational facilities will serve more than 4,500 students and include the following:
Three school buildings, each with 18 classrooms, funded by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s budget and located in Bnaslawa district in the neighborhoods of Roshnaberi and Zagros.
Three additional facilities, including an 18-classroom school in Pishenk (Erbil), a 12-classroom school in Azadi New City (Erbil), and a kindergarten in Atlantic City (Erbil), constructed as part of private sector investment projects.
Two schools, each with 18 classrooms, in Baharka district and the Hiwa City area of Erbil.
One nine-classroom school in the village of Dozttapa, part of the Shmamok district.
These new facilities aim to provide a supportive and modern learning environment for students, reflecting the government’s commitment to advancing education throughout the Kurdistan Region.
