President Nechirvan Barzani's statement on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we reaffirm our dedication to safeguarding women's rights in Kurdistan. We assure women that our efforts to eradicate all forms of violence and discrimination will persist. The empowerment of women and the enhancement of their status are essential to building a more equitable and progressive society.
The Kurdistan Region has taken a leading role in advocating for women’s rights and ensuring their equal participation alongside men in political and administrative spheres. It is our conviction that women serve not only as essential partners in decision-making but also as the foundation for enduring change and development.
On this significant occasion, we call for strengthened collaboration among governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and the media to promote awareness and reinforce the principles of tolerance and equality. Furthermore, the elimination of violence against women necessitates a collective commitment from everyone to foster the development of a promising and safe future for all members of society.
We assure the women of Kurdistan that we will persist in our dedicated efforts to achieve justice and equality while enhancing their capacity to fulfill their essential roles in the service and development of our nation.
Nechirvan Barzani
