Kurdistan Region Government Holds Meeting, Addresses Key Issues
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired a meeting of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers, where critical matters concerning public safety, financial obligations, and employment were discussed.

During the session, Prime Minister Barzani expressed deep concern over the recent fire incident at Qaysari Bazaar and extended condolences to the affected families. He stressed the importance of adhering to safety protocols in public spaces to prevent such incidents. Efforts to restore the bazaar, in collaboration with government bodies and UNESCO, are currently underway.
A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to discussions on financial matters, specifically salaries and obligations between the KRG and the Iraqi government. Prime Minister Barzani emphasized that the KRG has fulfilled its commitments and urged prompt disbursement of salaries owed to civil servants. He underlined that political disputes should not impede timely payments.
Addressing the issue of banking salaries, Aziz Ahmad, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, outlined an agreement with the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) to facilitate salary transactions in the Kurdistan Region. The Council of Ministers voiced support for this arrangement.
Another pivotal topic was the permanent employment of approximately 30,672 contracted employees within the region. The Council of Ministers acknowledged their importance and affirmed support for their demands, recognizing their significant contribution to governmental institutions.
Furthermore, Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Begard Talabani briefed the Council on efforts to enhance agricultural services for farmers in Kurdistan, following a delegation's visit to Baghdad. The aim is to ensure parity in agricultural support compared to other regions in Iraq.
The meeting concluded with directives for the Ministry of Finance and Economy to furnish necessary information for ongoing collaborations with the Iraqi government and the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI). The Council of Ministers affirmed its commitment to addressing critical issues impacting the Kurdistan Region.
