Kurdistan PM Asserts Firm Stance on Constitutional Rights During Washington Roundtable
In a recent roundtable discussion held in Washington D.C., Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Region reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Kurdish people to uphold their constitutional rights, emphasizing a stance of resilience against external pressures.
Addressing representatives from various US think tanks and research institutions, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the ongoing developments within the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the broader Middle East. The discussion, outlined in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, underscored the paramount importance of adhering to Iraq's federal constitution as the cornerstone of democratic and federal principles.
Reflecting on the sacrifices made by the Kurdish populace to secure their constitutional rights, Prime Minister Barzani unequivocally stated that such sacrifices could not be disregarded. He affirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) steadfast resolve not to yield to any form of pressure when it comes to defending these rights.
Moreover, Prime Minister Barzani reiterated the KRG's commitment to resolving disputes with the federal government within the framework of the Iraqi constitution. This commitment, he emphasized, encompasses ensuring the region's financial entitlements and fair share of the national budget. Additionally, discussions centered on the imperative of resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) while prioritizing stability and security in the region.
