We condemn in the strongest terms the drone terrorist attack that targeted a Peshmerga base in Erbil last night. The assault on the Peshmerga, which is an official force and an integral component of Iraq’s federal defense system, is a dangerous and unacceptable escalation that jeopardizes the peace and stability of Iraq.

We urge the Federal Iraqi Government to use all the necessary measures to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice, through a joint investigation in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government. The continued drone strikes against the Kurdistan Region will only disrupt Iraq’s peace and stability and further complicate the situation.
