Barzani Charity Foundation Offers Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) has extended a heartfelt offer to provide and deliver vital humanitarian aid to Gaza, which has been facing a barrage of airstrikes and hardships due to the ongoing conflict involving Israeli forces and Hamas. This announcement was made by the BCF on Sunday.

Musa Ahmed, President of the BCF, held a significant meeting with Palestinian Consul General Nazmi Hazouri in Erbil. During this meeting, President Ahmed officially conveyed the charity's strong willingness to provide essential aid to the besieged Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, as stated in a press release issued by the organization.

In response to this generous initiative, Palestinian Consul General Hazouri expressed his sincere gratitude, underscoring the charity's longstanding support for displaced Palestinians, especially those who sought refuge in the Kurdistan Region following the ISIS offensive in 2014.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) recently launched an intense bombardment campaign targeting Hamas positions within Gaza, a region already under a total siege, with access to water, fuel, food, and electricity severely restricted.

The latest wave of hostilities was triggered by Hamas's surprise offensive against Israel on October 7, resulting in the loss of more than 1,300 lives, including both soldiers and civilians. Hamas has governed the enclave since 2007.

In a separate development, the United States and Egypt have reached an agreement to open the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza, allowing 20 trucks of much-needed aid to enter the territory. These trucks were permitted to cross on Saturday.

The Barzani Charity Foundation stands as one of the most active humanitarian non-governmental organizations in Kurdistan, consistently offering substantial aid to displaced individuals and refugees in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and northern Syria. The organization also runs multiple programs designed to enhance the lives of displaced children.

The BCF was established in 2005, shortly after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Its mission, in its own words, is to "strive to honor the great legacy of Mulla Mustafa Barzani, the leader of the Kurdish Liberation Movement and influencer of the contemporary Kurdish nation."

As the situation in Gaza remains dire, the offer of humanitarian aid from the Barzani Charity Foundation comes as a beacon of hope for the affected population. The international community continues to monitor the developments in the region closely.
