Kurdistan Regional Government Takes Steps to Improve Social Security for Workers
Official sources within the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have reaffirmed the government's commitment to activate and enhance the social security law for workers as part of its efforts to strengthen the rights of this vital segment of the workforce.
During the ninth government's tenure, 10,757 projects were secured, benefiting 138,092 local and foreign workers, with the process ongoing and continuous, according to these government sources.
Regarding this initiative, Marwan Bakook, the Director-General of the Labor and Social Security Department, stated that the social security process aims to ensure the retirement entitlements, compensation, and benefits for workers after they complete their service. This allows them to benefit from this security and receive their full entitlements through bank checks, thereby avoiding leaving these funds in the hands of employers.
During the ninth government's term, 3,263 individuals were added to the social security fund's account list, and over the past four years, 56 billion and 226 million dinars in benefits from the previous seven years were disbursed to workers.
Bakook emphasized that the government is keen and serious about securing all the rights of workers who will be included in the social security system. He urged individuals within this category to promptly contact the social security departments to register their names and ensure a better future.
This move by the Kurdistan Regional Government reflects its commitment to improving the social and financial welfare of workers in the region, ensuring that they receive their due benefits and rights.
