Kurdistan Region President and Prime Minister offer condolences on the death of Madeleine Albright
Both the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed their condolences on the death of the former US Secretary of State, expressing their sadness and praising her role in stopping the internal fighting in the Kurdistan Region in the 1990s.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright" the Kurdistan Regional President wrote.
"She holds a special place in Kurdistan history as she played an important role in ceasing internal fighting in 1990s. May she rest in peace" President Nechirvan Barzani added.
"I’m saddened by the loss of Madeleine Albright" PM Barzani said.
"Madeleine helped end the Kurdish civil war and reconcile our differences, closing a bitter chapter that had touched far too many people" PM Barzani added.
"She was a lifelong supporter of the Kurdish cause. My thoughts are with her family" PM Barzani concluded.
