attack on convoy of International Coalition in Dhi Qar

On Tuesday, unknown persons detonated an explosive device in a convoy of the International Coalition in Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq, causing damage to one of the trucks but no casualties, according to a security source.

No party claimed responsibility for the attack, and no comment was issued by the Iraqi authorities or the international coalition on the matter.

In recent months, unknown persons have launched repeated attacks with missiles, booby-trapped drones and explosive devices targeting the US embassy and the international coalition forces, led by Washington, throughout Iraq.

Washington accuses Iraqi armed factions linked to Iran of being behind the attacks; It has repeatedly threatened to target US forces if they do not leave the country.

The new attacks come despite Baghdad and Washington, on July 26, reaching an agreement to withdraw US combat forces from Iraq by the end of this year.
