Prime Minister Barzani receives Japanese Ambassador
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received incoming Japanese Ambassador to Iraq Naofumi Hashimoto and the Consul of Japan to the Kurdistan Region Katsumi Moriyasu along with their delegation.

Ambassador Hashimoto expressed hope for continuing cooperation and coordination of KRG institutions on mutual interests and with the Japanese consulate. He lauded the Region’s development and said Japan pays great importance to its relations with the Kurdistan Region. He spoke of the formation of the new KRG cabinet and the Region’s participation in the political process of Iraq. He hoped the issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad will be solved through discussions.

Prime Minister Barzani wished Ambassador Hashimoto success in his duties. He affirmed the Kurdistan Region would strengthen its relations with Japan and thanked Japan for its projects implemented throughout the Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq.

He talked about the Kurdistan parties participating in the Iraqi government, and hoped outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad will be resolved through discussions. He said there are serious discussions towards forming the new KRG.
The situation of Iraq and issues in the greater region were also discussed.
