Abadi, Maliki in Disputes over Vice President Post: Source
ERBIL - Tensions have arisen between the Iraqi Victory Alliance, led by former PM Haider al-Abadi, and the Islamic Dawa Party, led by Nouri al-Maliki, over the post of the vice president, a source revealed on Wednesday.

Talking to BasNews on condition of anonymity, the source, who holds a high position in the Iraqi government, said that the Islamic Dawa Party insists that the position should be assigned for its leader, Maliki, while the same is true for Abadi's Victory Coalition.

He noted that although Abadi has already rejected the position, it was "just a word for the media."

"Each of the two coalitions is trying to ensure the position for itself," he revealed.

Maliki previously served as vice president while Abadi was in the position of prime minister.
