The delegation highlighted good relations between the Kurdistan Region and France, praising the role of the people and Peshmerga forces in confronting ISIS, and the assistance provided to an extraordinary number of displaced people.

The delegation reaffirmed their country's support to the Kurdistan Region. They commended efforts to build confidence and settle outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad through dialogue and to promote the political process and unity among Kurdistan parties.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked the delegation for Frence’s assistance during difficult times, especially last year when President Macron supported the Kurdistan Region.

He expressed willingness to further strengthen relations with France and briefed the delegation on the war against ISIS and its repercussions, especially the influx of a very large number of displaced people who fled the fighting and took refuge in the Kurdistan Region.

He also discussed the political process in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region as well as the formation of both the Iraqi federal and the Kurdistan regional governments.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his support to Iraq’s new Prime Minister, Adil Abdul Mahdi, to lead a successful government, promote stability and improve the country’s economic conditions.
