ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) Chancellor Masrour Barzani received on Sunday US Congressman Thomas Garrett who highlighted the peaceful coexistence among people in the Kurdistan Region.

“In the meeting, both sides reviewed the measures to further promote religious freedoms and increase US aid for groups fleeing persecution for the safe haven in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq,” according to a readout of the meeting.

“They also discussed the situation in Nineveh Plains and the importance of facilitating the return of religious communities to their ancestral homes.”

The pair reiterated the importance of ensuring the minority communities of their safety and security before their return to the liberated areas.
