ERBIL - Over 20 Iraqi people were either killed or wounded in a car bomb explosion in central Tikrit, Salahaddin province on Sunday evening, locals reported.

According to local sources, the incident occurred in the Doctors Street, where five individuals were killed in the bomb blast, while 16 more were injured.

No groups or terrorist organizations have so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but Islamic State, as it has usually been behind such incidents in most cases, is highly suspected to have carried out the offensive.

Former Iraqi government announced the full victory over the militant group last year. However, the group still continues to conduct terrorist activities against security forces and civilians.
