Turkish airstrikes kill at least 3 people including Peshmerga in Amedi
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — At least three people were killed by Turkish warplanes overnight on Wednesday in the Amedi district, Duhok province.

"The three persons were from the village of Aradnan... They were killed in Turkish airstrikes last night," said Imad Younis, the relative of one of the slain.

Younis added the three had gone back to their village to tend to their livestock.

Ramazan Rekani, a local Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) official, said two of the victims were Peshmerga.

"The relatives and other people in the area are trying to retrieve the bodies," said a relative.

The location of the village is not accessible to cars complicating recovery efforts.

According to unofficial data, 12 people in Duhok have been killed by Turkish airstrikes in 2018.

Turkey frequently bombs the border areas of the Kurdistan Region allegedly targeting bases belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Dozens of people have been killed due to Turkey’s cross-border strikes. Many villages have been evacuated, hundreds of acres of land incinerated, and heavy material damages incurred.
