US Appoints New Ambassador to Iraq
ERBIL — The United States has appointed a new diplomat to replace current Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Silliman, the White House announced on Wednesday.

The new ambassador is said to be Matthew Tueller, who currently serves as Washington’s top diplomat in Yemen, as reported by Kurdistan 24.

The replacement of ambassadors comes after recent mounting criticisms against the US policies in Iraq, many of which blaming the current diplomatic mission for Iran’s growing hegemony in Baghdad.

It is not clear yet when the new ambassador will assume office in Baghdad.
