New Kurdistan Parliament Members Sworn in
ERBIL — The new lawmakers of the Kurdistan Region parliament convened on Thursday for the first time since their election to be sworn in and begin their mission.

According to the parliament’s bylaw, the oldest member of the parliament will preside the session until a speaker is elected.

Thursday’s session was presided by MP Reving Muhammed Harouri from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

However, the parliament is not expected to succeed in electing a speaker anytime soon as it requires a consensus between the major political parties outside the chamber prior to any vote at the legislative.
