ERBIL - Iranian authorities have tortured a young Kurdish detainee to death, a monitoring group said on Saturday.

Hangaw Organization for Human Rights revealed that a young Kurdish man, identified as Ni'amatullah Cheraghi from the Kurdish province of Ilam, had been arrested for allegedly stealing from a shepherd in the area.

The accurate date of the incident has not been mentioned in the report, but he was believed to have been killed in the past three to four days.

According to a reliable source, the Iranian security forces had threatened the family of the victim to hide the real motive behind the death, forcing them to report it as a suicide.
