Hashd al-Shaabi Blames Former Iraqi PM for Re-emergence of IS on Border with Syria
ERBIL - Pro-Iranian Hashd al-Shaabi has blamed the former Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi and his government for their failure in securing the border areas with Syria as the Islamic State (IS) has lately intensified its attempts to sneak into Iraq once again.

Hashm al-Mosawi, a Hashd al-Shaabi leader, said in a statement that they had several times urged Abadi to take serious actions about the border areas and ensure the security of the area.

"But the former government did not pay attention to our call," the official argued.

He further accused the US of trying to "deteriorate" the security in Iraq by facilitating the return of the insurgents to the country.

"The US is attempting to target the security [in Iraq]," he said.
