ERBIL — Kurdish prominent leader and former president of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani has reiterated the urgency of normalizing the situation in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk.

Barzani’s remarks were made while receiving Saad al-Janabi, Head of the Iraqi Republican Rally Party, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday.

The meeting was focused on discussions around the current political situation in Iraq, including the new government in Baghdad, a statement on Barzani’s official website reported.

The officials underlined the importance of finding a solution to the current crisis in Kirkuk, working to maintain the status of peaceful coexistence in the Kurdish province.
