ERBIL - A group of unidentified armed men belonging to an illegal drug cartel shot at the house of a police official in the disputed Kurdish town of Tuz Khurmatu on Wednesday afternoon.

Former head of Tuz Khurmatu media, Mohammed Fayaq, said in a statement on his Facebook feed that the gunmen opened fire at the house of the Tuz Khurmatu chief of police at around 3:15 pm local time.

He noted that the armed men were Turkmen nationals, explaining that no casualties were reported and that the motive behind the raid was probably a threat.

No more details are available about the drug cartel.
