ERBIL - Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani received on Tuesday the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Jan Kubis, for talks on the recent political developments in Iraq and the region.

According to a statement by Barzani's office, the pair during the meeting, discussed the process of the establishment of the Iraqi future government, where the Kurdish top security official reiterated that "a principle agreement based on genuine partnership" would give both Erbil and Baghdad the political will to resolve their remaining disputes in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.

Concerning the recent regional parliamentary election, both officials agreed on addressing the complaints through "a timely, credible and transparent process."

The statement added that Barzani and the UN envoy further exchanged views on other issues inside the region, including political developments.
