ERBIL - Kurdish prominent leader and president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) received on Sunday the secretary-general of the Arab Project in Iraq, Khamis Al Khanjar.

During the meeting, according to a statement by Barzani's press office, the Iraqi official, who was accompanied by a number of other leaders from the Arab Project, and the former president of the Kurdistan Region discussed the latest political developments in Iraq.

Earlier the day, Barzani also received the US special presidential envoy to the coalition against the Islamic State (IS), Brett McGurk, the US ambassador to Iraq, Douglas Silliman, and Consul General in Erbil, Steven Fagin, for similar talks.

The KDP won 25 seats of the Iraqi parliament in May election, and it has obtained a total of 44 seats from the 85% announced preliminary results of the regional September 30th vote.
