Kurdistan Election: Announcement of Initial Results Delayed
ERBIL - The initial results of Sunday's regional parliamentary election, which were expected to be announced on Wednesday night, were delayed.

According to reports, the counting of the ballots has been concluded by the Kurdistan Region’s electoral commission, according to which, the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is the frontrunner.

The latest results of the ballots are as follows:

Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP): 738,698 votes (45 seats)

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK): 343,883 votes (21 seats)

Change Movement (Gorran): 195,553 votes (12 seats)

New Generation: 120,324 votes (8 seats)

Kurdistan Islamic Group (Komal): 113,928 votes (7 seats)

Towards Reform: 83,562 votes (5 seats)

Sardam: 16,895 votes (1 seat)

Azadi/ Communist: 8,239 votes (1 seat)

The commission is expected to declare the outcome of the September 30 legislative vote within 72 hours from the closure of the polls.
