ERBIL - Italy will continue its military assistance for the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, said the head of the Italian command center in Iraq during a meeting with the Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council, Masrour Barzani in Erbil on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the officials, apart from holding talks on the latest military and security developments in the Kurdistan Region, they highlighted the new methods and mechanisms of training the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, where Barzani, according to a statement by his office, thanked the Italian government for its prolonged aid for the Kurdish forces in the past few years.

The Italian commander reiterated his country's continuation of military aid for the Kurdish fighters with "new and more advanced technologies" that best suit with the current fight against terrorism in the country.
