Abducted Iraqi Journalist Found Dead in Northern Tikrit
ERBIL - The body of an Iraqi journalist, who had been kidnapped by the Islamic State (IS) insurgents overnight on Monday, was found in a village in northern Tikrit, a security official said on Tuesday.

The extremists had disguised in the national army uniform, and they had set up a fake checkpoint on a main road between Hawija and Kirkuk, where they abducted Wisam Hassan al-Obeidian alongside with his uncle near Riyadh district.

However, Brigadier General Khalil al-Raml, the Salahuddin Police Command, explained that the victim's body was found and that he was apparently shot in the head while being blindfolded.

He noted that the other abductee had been able to escape the militants after the abduction.
