Gabriela Isler, the freshly-crowned Venezuelan Miss Universe, began her duties on Sunday in Moscow, strutting around in a $1 million jewel-studded swimsuit.
“I feel very happy to share my first day as Miss Universe,” Isler said, according to Lebanese newspaper Daily Star. “I’m a simple girl. I am just come to have fun, to enjoy the moment - and here I am,” she added.
As the new face of an Italian lingerie firm, Isler twirled around in a Moscow hotel in a white emerald, diamond and ruby-studded cut-away swimsuit.
Miss Universe organizers said the costume was sewn with 900 stones.
“We do have armed guards, so don’t get any ideas,” joked Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe organization.
The beauty queen replied by quipping: “I’m still asking: where are those guards, because I’ll run with it.”
Isler, 25, is the seventh Venezuelan Miss Universe, beating 85 other women in the competition, held in Russia’s capital.
